Welcome to Ellie's Installations. These photographs were taken over about four years. We started noticing Ellie's penchant for leaving little gifts throughout the house at about age 3. You would walk into a room and know Ellie had been there because there would just be a funny little arrangement of things, gathered together in a pleasing way. I hated to put things back where they belonged and break up her creation, so I took to photographing them for posterity.
These were our first clues that Ellie had an artistic bent. As time went on they became more elaborate, and it was clear she had a real eye for layout and color. She also has a wonderful sense of height, you can see how carefully she balances items of different heights throughout her work here.
The drawing seems to have replaced the installations, we don't find them around the house as much. I miss them, but I guess it's a sign she's growing up and moving on to new mediums.
A note on the titles: I have always had titles in my head for these pictures, and for her drawings, but I've hesitated to ever write them down, since these are her creations, not mine. I've broken my rule by naming everything here. I feel a little conflicted about the whole thing, but I thought some of them needed some further explanation. Mostly I'm just indulging my selfish need to inflict my own view on her creations. I hope Ellie at a later date won't be too upset with me.
